About
Ghost Towns of the American West was created as a project for IT111 - Internet and Web Authoring at North Seattle College. I chose this topic because I have a personal interest and some experience visiting these locations. I find them to be a fascinating glimpse into the past, like scenes frozen in time. Some are preserved and serve as museums, while others are unmaintained and even unmarked.
The goal of the website is to promote awareness of ghost towns and their history, which tends to be forgotten over time as buildings decay and eventually disappear. The website covers topics from existing ghost towns and general history, to tips for prospective visitors. You will also find a form to submit other ghost towns for consideration and additional resources on visiting historic sites in the United States.
